Eurelectric, de overkoepelende Europese organisatie van elektriciteitsmaatschappijen, presenteert volgende week een plan voor standaardisatie van oplaadsystemen voor elektrische auto’s. Antonio Tajani, EU Commissaris voor Vervoer en tevens vice-voorzitter van de Europese Commissie neemt de verklaring in ontvangst. De uitreiking vindt plaats in Brussel op 27 oktober. Eurelectric toont op de bijeenkomst tevens een serie voertuigen en oplaadstations.

Opvolgen:

Eurelectric heeft samen met grote Europese energiebedrijven en 14 autofabrikanten een voorstel gemaakt om oplaadtechnieken voor elektrische auto’s te standaardiseren. Het voorstel wordt nu voorgelegd bij de Europese regering. De politieke (en financiële) steun moet volgens Eurelectric barrières wegnemen zodat emissievrij rijden makkelijker gerealiseerd kan worden.

Eurelectric streeft een CO2-vrije elektriciteitsproductie vanaf 2050 – waarmee het elektrische wegverkeer over 40 jaar uitstootvrij kan rijden. In maart van dit jaar presenteerde de organisatie haar visie op de toekomst van elektrisch rijden en de noodzaak tot standaardisatie van de techniek.

Samengevat:

Vanaf 2020 zijn elektrische auto’s voordeliger in het gebruik (benzineprijs 1,50 euro).

Als alle auto’s in 27 Europese landen morgen elektrisch rijden, stijgt de elektriciteitsvraag in deze landen met 15 % oftewel 370 TWh (bij 2,6 miljard autokilometers en 0,18 kWh/km).

In 2020 komt de uitstoot van een elektrische auto op 40 gram CO2/km

Electric Vehicle Standardisation Event
Presentation of a Declaration by the European Electricity Industry

In a declaration signed in March this year by company CEOs, the majority of the European electricity industry made a commitment to achieve a carbon-neutral power supply in Europe by 2050, as part of overall efforts to mitigate climate change.

In signing the declaration, the CEOs also drew attention to the role electric technologies can play in driving the decarbonisation of other key economic sectors. In this context, they pledged to undertake and promote investment in the infrastructure necessary to foster the development of all electric and plug-in hybrid road vehicles which, when powered by low-carbon electricity, will ensure a more climate-friendly transport system and promote sustainable mobility in Europe.

To pave the way for rapid deployment and long-lasting market penetration of plug-in vehicles, it is now absolutely essential to push forward the standardisation of the infrastructure needed to charge these vehicles from the electricity distribution network. This must be done on a cross-industry basis at European level.

EURELECTRIC, on behalf of European electricity distribution companies, and in consultation with a broad range of actors in automotive manufacturing and equipment supply, has drawn up a Declaration on the standardisation of electric vehicle infrastructure with a view to obtaining political support from the European Commission and other European policymakers for the creation of appropriate incentives to overcome market hurdles and initial commercialisation barriers and to promote R & D into electric drive technologies.

At a moment when the European Commission is preparing to publish a White Paper on a Sustainable Transport Future, we are delighted that Mr Antonio Tajani, EU Transport Commissioner and Vice-President of the European Commission, has welcomed the EURELECTRIC distribution system operators’ initiative on electric road vehicles and agreed to formally receive the Declaration, and outline his vision of a sustainable transport future, at a dedicated event in Brussels.

The hand-over of the Declaration by Mr. Padraig McManus (CEO, ESB Ireland) to the Commissioner will take place at 18h00 on Tuesday 27th October at the Conrad Hotel in Brussels. For the occasion, we are also organising an exhibition of electric cars with charging posts.
